Lucille O'Neill, 62, of Ames died at her home of a brain tumor Sunday, December 4, 2011. A visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 8 from 5 to 7 pm and a vigil service at 6:30 pm at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, Dec. 9 at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames. Burial will follow in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Lucille O'Neill was born September 17, 1949 in New Rochelle, New York to Joseph and Theresa Williams. She married Richard O'Neill on November 14, 1971 in New Rochelle, New York. She had lived in Mt. Vernon, NY, So. Hackensack, NJ, Teaneck, NJ, Glen Rock, NJ, and New Castle, PA, before moving to Ames in 1993.
She was employed as a client records officer for Youth and Shelter Services for 17 years. She was an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, participating in St. Mary's Circle, Eucharistic Adoration, Social Concerns committee, and CFM.
She is survived by her husband, Richard O'Neill, of Ames; two sons, Derek (Alyssa)O'Neill of Chandler, AZ, and Stephen O'Neill of Ankeny; daughter, Meghan (Mike) Porter and their children, Emilee, and Michael, of Des Moines; and three sisters, Anita (James) Ritch, of Mahopac, NY, Kathy (John) Behrens, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Lisa (Henry) Bartels, of New Rochelle, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
