Lura M. Aurelius, 94 of Urbana, formerly of the Chicago area, passed away at 12:40am, Sunday November 27, 2011 at Meadowbrook Health Center, Urbana.
Lura was born October 25, 1917 in Chicago to Samuel J. and Helen Howell Aurelius.
Surviving are 2 nieces, Debbie (John Muir) Aurelius-Muir, Bloomington and Bonnie (Terry Hallcock) Braselton, Tempe, AZ; 1 nephew, Michael Aurelius of Munster, Indiana; 3 great-nephews, J. Lewis (Charlotte) Muir, Martin (Kate)Muir, Matthew (Kristie) Braselton; 3 great-nieces, Adelaide (Luca) Trombetta, Wendy Muir, and Rebekah (Chad Denmark) Braselton; 6 great-great nephews, Samuel, Ethan, Quinn, Caleb, Benjamin and Judah; 2 great-great nieces, Bethany and Harper; 2 sisters-in-law, Efty Aurelius and Charlotte Aurelius.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Samuel Job Aurelius and Lewis McDermut Aurelius.
Lura was graduated from the Chicago Public Teacher's College and then went on to teach in the Chicago Public School System for over 30 years. During her summers off, she was a camp counselor at a girls' camp in Wisconsin. She was a member of Emmanuel Memorial Episcopal Church, Champaign.
A memorial service for Lura will be held in September 2012. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
