Luther Fossum, 87, a resident of Spooner, WI died on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Benedictine Living Center of Spooner.
Luther Osman Fossum was born on August 19, 1925 in Thief River Falls, MN to Lyman and Ida (Kjelgren) Fossum. He attended grade and high school in Bagley, MN and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. After graduation he was employed by the Spooner School District and was the orchestra/band instructor from 1959 – 1990. Luther married Donna Marinelli Green in November of 1962 in Spooner, WI.
He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a founding member of the Spooner Lion's Club. He loved to canoe and was an avid amateur photographer. He loved the early mornings and late evenings on the water in his canoe taking pictures of the wildlife and the breath taking scenery.
Among those who survive and gratefully shared his life are his daughters, Paula Green Rose, Patrice Green Schieppati and Margo Green Marquis, all of CA; grandchildren, Nathan Schieppati of Los Angelis, CA, Alexis Koren of Santa Monica, CA, Jessica Merks-Carroll of Sherman Oaks, CA, Gavin Merks of Chicago, IL, Brandon Schieppati of Costa Mesa, CA, and Logan Rose of Venice, CA; great grandchildren, Mason Hilliare and Lola Carroll, both of CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna.
There will be a celebration of life and memories from 3 pm – 5 pm on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Foxxy's Steak and Seafood House on Elm St. in Spooner, WI. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations to the Food Pantry.
