ARCHER Dr. Milton Calvert Archer Jr. (70) died at home March 14, 2011. As a Jacksonville native, he attended Landon High School and the University of Florida. After graduating with honors and a Ph.D. in virology, he worked for Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri, Brussels, Belgium and Sao Paulo, Brazil. He ended his Monsanto career as the Director of International Research. Milton then moved back to Jacksonville and conducted International Leadership Seminars in the Far East, Middle East, Europe and the United States. He and his wife Kathy later served as President and Vice President of the Stenotype Institute of Jacksonville. After retirement, together they both enjoyed family, friends, shrimping and fishing. Milton was the son of the late Milton Calvert Archer and Ethelynd Landers Archer. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy, his brothers Chris of Atlanta, GA and Dan of Corpus Christi, TX, nieces Sharon Issacs, Christi, Sophie, nephew Clay, cousins Rick and Margery Johnston, and David Archer. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society .
