Madalyn S. Gaddy Bishop, 80, of 103 Hillcrest Ave., Rome, GA, passed away Thursday morning,
December 29, 2011, at Winthrop Manor Nursing Center.
Mrs. Bishop was born in Kingsport, TN on September 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph P.
Gaddy and Essie Kate Tolbert Gaddy. She was the wife of the late George A. Bishop.
Mrs. Bishop began working for Citizens Federal Savings and Loan. She then went on to work for National City Bank/First Union until retirement. After her retirement she worked for Pinsons Inc. She volunteered for and supported the STAR House where she was on the Board of Directors and served as treasurer. She was an active member of the Second Avenue Baptist Church where she was a leader in their children's department and a director of their Royal Ambassador Program for over twenty years, touching lives that spanned generations.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Annette) Bishop, Louisville, CO, Tom (Melonie) Bishop, Lake St.
Louis, MO; one daughter, Gina (Dwight) Duke, Woodstock, GA; six grandchildren: Cherelle Bishop,
Wyatt Bishop, Shane Bishop, Anna Bishop, Adam Bishop and Madalyn (Maddie) Duke and dear friend
Receiving of friends will be Friday, January 6, 2012, from 6pm to 8pm at Daniel's Funeral Home, 901 E Second Ave., Rome.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 10 am at the Second Avenue Baptist
Church, 828 E. 2nd Ave with burial at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Monty Stallins, officiating.
