Margaret Simmons Cloer, 83, of Statesville died Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Gordon Hospice House.
She was born February 8, 1929, in Lenior, NC, and was the daughter of the late John Edwards and Alda Josey Simmons. She was a 1948 graduate of Scotts High School, was a member of Front Street Baptist Church and an avid Elvis fan. She retired from Uniglass Industries in 1989 following 36 years of service.
On November 24, 1948, she married Garland David Cloer, Sr. who preceded her in death on January 14, 2004. She was also preceded in death by a brother, John Edwards Simmons, Jr. and a step-grandson, Eric Phillips.
She is survived by her son, Garland David (Tanya) Cloer, Jr. of Statesville; a grandson, David Monroe (Alisha) Cloer of Statesville; a step-grandson, Deany (Jenny) Phillips of Kings Mountain; two great-grandchildren, Austin Jordan Cloer and Bethany Ann Cloer both of Statesville; a step-great-grandson, Nicholas Blake Phillips of Kings Mountain; several nieces and nephews; and her two kitties, Maggie Mae and Pumpkin.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:30 PM Sunday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
A private graveside funeral service for the family will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
