Margaret Rose Gonzales Soriano of Bremerton passed away peacefully at home after a 19-year battle with renal failure on New Year's Day. Rose was born in Cebu City, Philippines on Aug. 30, 1948. She was a CPA and taught at the University of the East before moving to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1973 with her husband, Rogato (Roger), stationed there with the U.S. Navy. They married in the Philippines on Sept. 9, 1971. In 1979, they settled in Bremerton where Roger was stationed at Bangor. He later retired from active duty in 1990 and currently works for the Deptartment of the Army at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Through it all, Rose was a steadfast Navy wife and stay-at-home mother to two beloved sons. Rose is survived by her mother, Benilda Gonzales, in Manila, P.I. along with sons, Rojohn Soriano (Tricia) of Puyallup and Rovihar Soriano (Catherine) of Kenmore and three beautiful grandchildren: Simon, Sarafina, and Vyanne Rose. A funeral Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 7 at 11 a.m. with a viewing at 10 a.m. and reception after service (4215 Pine Rd NE, Bremerton, WA 98310).
