Margaret "Maggie" Jane Wall, age 61, of Puyallup, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013, with family by her side.
Margaret Jane Tanner was born to Howard C. Tanner Jr. and Sally Lou Kuhlman Tanner in Chicago, Illinois on September 22, 1952. She grew up in Santa Maria, California and was a standout student. She was a member of Delta Gamma during her years attending University of Idaho, but earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Washington at age 22. She then went on to earn a Masters of Education in Business and Marketing from Central Washington University. Maggie's first job after college was as a clothing buyer for The Bon Marche and was successful in this business for over a decade. At age 22, Maggie gave birth to her daughter, Celeste Suzanne Sengstock, while married to her first husband, Frank Sengstock. In 1980, she wed Timothy Walker of Santa Maria, CA. Maggie and her husband settled their family in Renton, WA. In 1982, they welcomed their second child, Matthew Timothy Walker. In 1992, Maggie married Gerald H. Hayes. They soon moved to Puyallup, where she started her teaching career at Puyallup High School. She was a dedicated teacher who taught business and marketing and was inspired everyday by her students. In 1995, she married Rocky Wall, welcoming his three sons into their family. Maggie and Rocky were married for sixteen years until Rocky passed away in 2011.Maggie Jane was beautiful, funny, smart, courageous, giving and forgiving, authentic and independent. She dedicated herself to her family, friends and students. She enjoyed a fun and amazing life and leaves a legacy of love and friendship to all who knew her.Maggie is survived by her daughter Celeste Lykken, son Matthew Walker, granddaughters Ellia Lykken and Quinn Lykken, siblings William Tanner, John Tanner, Elise Tanner and Susan Tanner, nieces and nephews Danielle Geaslen, Amanda Tanner and Raymond Tanner and Hannah Kopisch. Also, her close friends and extended family members, including her current and former students.A memorial service will be held at Puyallup High School on Saturday, January 11 at 3:00 pm. Friends, family, former and current PHS students and teachers are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, Honor or Memory donations may be made to Fred Hutchison Cancer Research: www.fhcrc.org.

My heart is so sad to hear this. She was the best teacher and mentor I ever had. Even long after graduation she offered her time and knowledge to our family business. She was a wonderful person and will be true missed.
