Margie Aline Reece Vaden, 92, Oklahoma City, left her earthly home on January 24, 2013. She was born February 20,1920 in Adair County, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles Alexander and Barbra Allen Reece. Margie was the youngest of nine siblings. Margie frequently shared stories of happy memories of her days growing up on the family tobacco farm. During World War II she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter", building aviation parts for the military. Margie met the love of her life, Clyde Vaden, a young solider, recently returned from the war, on a blind date. It was love at first sight, and three weeks later, on June 30, 1945, they were married with her brother, Paul, officiating. After a short stay with the groom's family in Arkansas, they moved to Oklahoma, which became their permanent home. Despite the distance, she always held a fondness for her birthplace, Kentucky, and stayed very close to her family and friends there. Over their 46 years together, Margie and Clyde raised three daughters. Margie was a loving, devoted mother and wife, and family always came first in her heart. Additionally, she was a hard-working career woman. Her warm and outgoing personality was enjoyed by her loyal customers at Kinney's Shoes for over 20 years. Her volunteer activities included her church, Memorial Christian, Meals on Wheels and nursing homes. In her final years, Margie enjoyed spending time with her friends at Hefner Mansions. She will be remembered for the unconditional love she shared with all, selfless service to others, her fabulous cooking, ability to put a smile on the face of everyone, and her joy of singing. Margie had a remarkable way of making sure that each of her family members knew they had a special place in her heart. Preceded in death by her husband, Clyde in 1991, her parents, and 8 siblings, she is survived by daughters: Donna Harrison and husband Paul, June Davis and husband Jim, Reeca Young and husband Phillip, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
