Marguerite Carozzi passed away on January 22, 2014 at the age of 88 leaving behind a devoted husband Albert Carozzi, two daughters Viviane Carozzi and Nadine Carozzi, and four grandchildren.
Marguerite and her husband came to the United States from Switzerland in 1957 and raised their family in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois. She was a loving mother and wife who possessed many talents including oil painting and piano. She began her studies at the University of Illinois where she received a B.A. in French Literature, a M.A. in French and History, and a Ph.D. in French and History of Geology. Her fields of specialty included the history of geology in the eighteenth century and translations in French, German, and English.
She was the love of her husband's life for 65 years and his partner in his scientific and academic careers. To all who knew her she embodied elegance and sophistication. For the last years of her life she endured the havoc and devastation that being afflicted with Alzheimer's brings and she lived through it with the same dignity and courage that typified her entire life.
