Maria De La Paz Acevedo entered into eternal rest at the age of 96 on Christmas morning, 2013. She was born on January 24, 1917 to Ignacio Salazar and Maria Garza Salazar in Zapata, Texas. Maria worked as a clerk for a few antique shops and then she became a caregiver & nanny until her retirement and she was currently living in San Antonio, Texas.
She was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by her parents; husband Abdon Acevedo; five sisters, Belen Stagnitta, Guadalupe S. Villarreal, Minerva Cuellar, Bernadina “Nina” Ramirez and Elsa Benavidez; two brothers, Antonio I. Salazar and Juan D. Salazar and her partner, Felix Alderete.
She is survived by her brother, Jesus E. (Maria) Salazar of Hebbronville, Texas; brother-in-law, Rodolfo “Cuate” Ramirez; two sister-in-laws, Aurora Eliza Salazar and Gloria Salazar and numerous nieces and nephews who she considered to be as if they were her children.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will follow at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. and will conclude with a burial at the New Hebbronville Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be: Thomas “Tommy” Cuellar, Jr., Rodolfo Ramirez, Jr., Roel Benavides, Jr., Elic Joe Salazar, Marc Gonzalez and Daniel Gonzalez. Honorary Pallbearers are: Douglas Villarreal, Abelardo Alberto Salazar and Antonio Salazar, Jr.
