Marion L. Schieffelin of New Orleans, LA peacefully passed away on March 30, 2014. Her children were at her side. She is survived by son John Schieffelin (Cathy), daughter Cynthia Lawson (Barry), and grandchildren Anna, Caroline, Sam, and Reade. Born in 1927 in Bay Shore, NY, Marion spent her childhood in Lindenhurst, NY. Upon completing nursing school in 1946, she became an RN specializing in pediatric and neonatal nursing. She met husband Jack, a pediatrician, in 1963 when they enjoyed their first date watching circus elephants parading through Manhattan. Married in 1964, Marion and Jack settled in Lafayette, CA where she became a devoted housewife, mother and small time zookeeper. Marion will be remembered for her love of and compassion for all living things, her gentleness with and generosity toward all she knew, and her quiet grace. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in her name to the ASPCA.
