Marjene was born in San Antonio, Texas on April 3, 1925; she passed on March 14, 2014 at the age of 88.
Marjene is survived by her son, Ben j. Ciulla, his wife Sharon; daughters, Nancy Marshall, her husband Ken; Theresa Boatright; Katheryne Campbell, her husband Darryl; Anna Brown; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Marjene is preceded in death by husband, Leaford D. Miller; sons, Peter Ciulla and Paul Ciulla; twin sister, Margie Schroeder; brothers, Harold and Al Dillashaw; her parents, Bessie Corine and Harold L. Dillashaw Sr.; son-in-law, Don Boatright; and daughter-in-law Natalie Ciulla.
Marjene was not only a wife, mother and grandmother; she was a creative resourceful and giving Christian soul. She always loved music, flowers, birds, cats, and especially chocolate. Creating beautiful hand embroidery and quilted artwork was her passion. She worked in the retail customer service industry for over twenty years and loved serving her community. She volunteered at the Canyon Lake VFW and the Senior Center of Canyon Lake. During WWII she and her sister volunteered many hours at the USO of San Antonio. She was a member of the Canyon Lake VFW and the Canyon Lake Quilters Guild.
Marjene had a sometimes pithy, witty sense of humor and a strong, often referred to as "stubborn" personality. Whether it was playing baseball I the street with her seven children, standing in the middle of the Witte Museum singing "Ding Dong The Witch is Dead", trying to learn ice fishing and ice skating in sub-zero temperatures of Wisconsin, riding a longhorn steer in Brackenridge Park or learning to ride her daughter's horse at age fifty-five, Marjene wasn't afraid to try new things and enjoyed life.
Her love, laughter and creativity will live in our hearts forever.
