Martin Francis Gravel was born in Alexandria, LA on December 13, 1937 and peacefully passed away in Dallas, TX on October 14, 2013. He was 75 years old and a graduate of Loyola University. He grew up in Alexandria and lived in Gurdon, AR he was a longtime member of the Hoo Hoo International Lumberman's Association and he also served as President of the local Rotary Club.
Martin is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Barrie Niehuss Gravel. he is preceded in death by his mother and father, Alfred and Lillian Gravel, his brother Paul Gravel and his brother-in-law, Bobby Niehuss.
Martin and Barrie have been blessed with three children and seven grandchildren; Lale Diehl and husband Bowen, Michael Gravel and wife Catherine, Paul Gravel and wife Rachael. Grandchildren are Padgitt, Henry, and Christina Diehl Benjamin and Camille Gravel, and Lillian and Emily Gravel. Martin is also survived by his brother, Alfred Gravel and sister Meta Doggitt of Alexandria, LA and several nieces and nephews.
For Martin, family was his priority in life. His hobbies included fishing, golf, gardening and travel. Martin will be missed by all those whose lives have been touched by him and he be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
