Marvin Alexander Sr.

At 11:04 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, Marvin Alexander, at age 79, closed those deep blue eyes, received his independence from his earthly body, and went on to celebrate with his Lord and Savior and loved ones in Heaven. A native of Cleveland, Miss., he was born July 5, 1932, to the late Buster L. Alexander Sr. and Mirtle Bennett Alexander. He was a retired machinist and a veteran of the Korean War. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Lula "Lu" Kleinpeter Alexander; children, Charlotte and husband Dwain Hebert, of Prairieville, Hazel Arcement, of Madisonville, Michael Alexander, and Butch and wife Janice Barrilleaux, of Baton Rouge, Jerry and wife Louise Alexander, of Watson, and Ernest Alexander, Jr., of Mississippi; three sisters, Dollie Skellion, Brenda Griffin and husband Jude, of Mississippi, and Ruby and husband Bob Hatley of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, J.W., Buster Jr., and Clarence Alexander; and three sisters, Louise Carpenter, Bertha Calder, and Mattie Davis. Pallbearers will be Mike and Jerry Alexander, Butch and Brennan Barrilleaux and Jason and Matthew Hebert.
