Marvin Bernard Beachkofski, age 83, was born July 28, 1928 and given eternal rest on Friday, August 19, 2011 with his family at his side. Marvin was a lifelong resident of Menasha and member of St. Mary's Parish in Menasha. He graduated from St. Mary High School in 1946 where he was a proud member of the Zephyr Football team. Throughout High School he worked at Badger Globe KC. Upon graduation he joined the Navy. After serving our country for two years, he returned to Menasha and joined the work force at Marathon, which later became American Can and then James River, from which he retired.
After retirement he was a consultant for ConAgra. It was during a consulting project on March 4, 1987 he survived a plane crash that killed nine and injured thirteen people. The twenty-four years following the crash were truly a blessing and a bonus.
During his younger years, he loved to fish and hunt, which was replaced in his later years with sitting on the porch at his cottage on Lake Winneconne watching the water and enjoying the sunset. His other favorite things were listening to polka music, holidays with his family, hosting parties at the lake and enjoying a glass of "CC". He always went out of his way to show everyone how to have a good time and enjoyed sharing his many blessings.
He was united in marriage to Lorraine Verkuilen on October 28, 1950. In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Beth (Phillip) Sass of Berlin, Jane (Dave) Voss of Larsen; grandchildren: Christine (Matthew) Organ of Arlington Heights, IL, Caroline (Michael) Blustin of Oshkosh, Allen (Heather) Sass of Neenah, David (Heather) Voss of Menasha, Daniel Voss (special friend, Sarah Dahlvig) of Wausau, Michael Voss of Larsen and Katie Voss of Larsen; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Theodore Organ, Jazmine and Genevieve Blustin, Brityn and David "George" Voss. The greatest joys of his life were his children and grandchildren. Visits from his great-grandchildren during his illness brought a light into his life. He is further survived by his sister, Grace Dumke and many great friends and relatives.
Marvin's parents, Bernard and Emily Beachkofski, sisters: Lillian Schipferling and Ruth Taves, infant daughter and son, David Beachkofski preceded him in death.
The family wishes to thank the caring and compassionate staff at Rennes Health Care, excellent staff at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center, Dr. Goggins and his staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology. Also, a special thank you to his spiritual administers, Debbie Spielbauer and Father Paul Paider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The committal will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Marvin's name.

So sorry to hear of Marv's passing. My sympathy to his family. My thoughts of Marv go back many years to childhood when we would play football and baseball across the street from his home in "Box field". And in later years our paths would cross in our employment in the paper industry.I shall forever remember Marv with the fondest of memories.
