Mary Joyce (Freshley) Aldridge, 87, of Evansville, passed away Friday, September 27, 2013, at Deaconess Hospital. She was born April 29, 1926.
Mary attended Delaware and Scott schools and graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in 1944. She was in the Reitz Concert Choir. Mary was married to Charles Aldridge on December 8, 1945 and had been married for 53 years and raised three sons. After their children were in school, Mary attended Evansville College and received a teaching degree. Mary taught school from 1966-1989, teaching at Fulton, Oak Hill, and Scott.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Kappa Kappa Iota, Kennel Club, Home Demonstration Club, Eastern Star, North Side Civitan Club, SS & SS Club, Red Hat Society, and Member of Centenary Methodist Church.
Mary loved to travel, read, play games, and spend time with her family. She was a gifted seamstress and musician, and had an artistic talent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Goldie (Sallee) Freshley and her beloved husband, Charles who died in 1999.
Mary is survived by her sons, Chuck (Virginia), Wayne (Judy), and Tim Aldridge; five grandchildren, Shawn Maglinger (Tom), Monica Quirk (Chris), and Cody, Kit and Connor Aldridge; eight great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren; sister, Jo Wilson; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at Centenary United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Danny Walker, with burial at the church cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel and Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
