The family of Mary Andrusco announces her peaceful passing on Saturday evening, October 15, 2011. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years Nick (2009) and her precious daughter Nikki (2010).
Left to cherish her memory are her children Peter (Michelle) of Dryden, ON; Ruth (David) Tupper of Owen Sound, ON; Marina (Cameron) Gray of Winnipeg and her son-in-law Martin (Nikki) O'Connor.
She will be sorely missed by her 6 grandchildren Daniel O'Connor, Michael (Agicszka) and John Andrusco, Andrew Tupper, Nicholas and Elizabeth Gray.
Mom was elated and over-joyed to be able to meet her first great grand-daughter Hanna Mary Andrusco.
Mary was born August 22, 1921 in Neepawa, Manitoba to George and Catherine Pidlubny. She was predeceased by her parents and four brothers: Michael, Gordon, Walter and William.
Mom was known for her kindness and generosity towards others. She was very humble and never wanted attention drawn to herself. However, she was very proud of "the 8-ender" she achieved with her curling team in 1964.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed playing bridge – having played her last game just 2 weeks ago with her friends Del, Evie and Edith.
We have many wonderful memories of summers spent "up the lake" where mom's warm hospitality made family and friends feel welcome.
But later in life, spending winters in Florida was where her heart truly was and where she and dad were very active in the Ukrainian community for over 30 years.
Mom was very devoted to her Ukrainian heritage and, as her children, were well immersed in our Ukrainian Orthodox faith and traditions. She was an incredible mother whose love for us was unconditional.
We knew that her disease was taking its toll on the quality of her life and we feel blessed that she was able to celebrate her 90th birthday in August.
Rest in peace our darling mother-we will love you forever.
