Mary Alice East Chesson, 84, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in her home.
Alice was a native of Gueydan and lived in Vinton for the last 65 years. She was a lifetime member of both the VFW Post 8107 Auxillary and the American Legion Auxillary.
Survivors include her sons James "Royce" East and his wife Susie of Sulphur, Leonard East and his wife Phyllis of New Jersey, Jerry East and his wife Irene of Vinton, Robert East and his wife Charlotte of Sulphur, and Myron East of Sulphur; daughters Angelatia "Sissy" Abrego and her husband David of Orange, Tx., Lydia Doucet and her husband Fred of Orange, Tx., Laura Sutton of Vinton, and Alice McClelland and her husband Darrell of Starks; sister Shirley Duraso of Sulphur; 37 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her son Albert "Red" East, Jr., husbands Albert East, Sr., and Thophile Chesson, and 2 grandchildren, babies Chris and Brandi.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 18, in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. The Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Chesson Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Friday with a rosary at 7 p.m., and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday.
