On October 7th, 2012, Mary Frances (Foo) Vest died peacefully with her devoted daughter, Karen, at her side.
Foo was born in Washington, DC on January 16, 1922. She attended De Sales Heights Visitation Academy in Parkersburg, WV. She was Valedictorian of her graduating class 1929. She went to Business School in DC after graduation, which prepared her well for her career in government. She worked her way from clerical positions to Administrative positions, serving as Executive Secretary to Assistant to many generals and admirals. She received numerous awards during her career in government and at one time, held the position of Federal Women's Coordinator.
Foo married the love of her life, Johnny in 1941. They both retired to Satellite Beach in 1977, which they considered "living in Paradise". They celebrated 62 years of wedded bliss.
Foo was predeceased by her husband, Johnny Vest; son, Jay Vest; and four siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Vest Dickson; grandchildren, Sean Dickson and Melissa Dickson Fleury; great grandchildren, McKenna and Seamus Fleury; brother, Gerald Dolan; sister, Helen Shawkey; and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by many and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be 3-6pm, October 16th at Florida Memorial Gardens and funeral service on October 17th, at 11am at St. Sebastian By-The-Sea, Melbourne Beach.
