Mary Rosalie Widdis Wood
1926-2010
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Rosalie (Widdis) Wood, passed away on October 20, 2010 in Riverton, Utah.
Mary was born on June 30, 1926 in Lansing, Michigan to Jesse Lee Widdis and Beulah Ervilla Guthrie. She was only 3 when the Great Depression began. In her early years she learned the value of family, hard work and thrift. She married Harry Jack
Wood on May 12, 1955 in Angola, Indiana. While living in Michigan, they had two sons and in 1970 moved to Salt Lake City, Utah.
Mary was first and foremost a wife and mother. Although she worked outside the home from time to time, her greatest satisfaction came from caring for the needs of her family. This she did very well. She was also a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her love of children was of great benefit when it came to church service. With the move to Utah, she was able to attend church regularly with her sons. She served for many years in the Primary Organization as a teacher of young children and loved it. She also served in various positions in the Relief Society; never truly happy unless she was working to help someone in need. Her prayers of many years were answered in 1977 when her marriage to her husband was solomnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Mary is survived by her husband Harry, sons Kenneth (Peggy) and Charles, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; her beloved sister Babrara Strong (Jack). She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul and sister Shirley.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 25th at 11 a.m. in the Granger 15th Ward Chapel, 2835 S 2855 W, West Valley, Utah. Family and friends may call at the same location one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
