MAUREEN ANN BERGMANN (photo)
Maureen Ann Bergmann, 58, of West Chesterfield, also known as "Midge", died Sunday morning at her residence following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
She was born in Boston, MA, on July 10, 1953, the daughter of Maurice and Shirley (Graves) Clark. She grew up in Keene and was a 1971 graduate of Keene High School.
Mrs. Bergmann worked briefly for Markem Corporation from 1971-1973. In 1973 she then entered the former Cheshire Hospital School of Nursing Program and graduated in 1976 as Valedictorian of her class with a Diploma Degree in Nursing. Following graduation she was employed by Cheshire Medical Center as a registered nurse in the recovery room until 1984 when she decided to become a stay at home mom.
She married Kenneth M. Bergmann on May 2, 1981 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brattleboro, VT.
Mrs. Bergmann had become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was also involved in a local children's play group for many years which became a lifelong group of friends.
While her children were in school, she volunteered frequently at the Chesterfield Elementary School. In addition to spending time with her family, Mrs. Bergmann also enjoyed relaxing at Spofford Lake and York Beach, ME, antique shopping, reading, chocolate, and her daily cup of coffee. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her kind nature, contagious smile, and her admirable battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Mrs. Bergmann is survived by her husband of 31 years Kenneth M. Bergmann of West Chesterfield; her sons Kenneth M. Bergmann, Jr. of North Swanzey and Nicholas C. Bergmann, and his fiancé Lisa A. Jackson, of Keene; her daughter Lindsay E. Bergmann of Enfield, NH; a grandchild Abigail J. Bergmann of Keene; two sisters Leslie Gerbracht of Bennett, CO and Allison Sieber of Centreville, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Bergmann will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 161 Western Ave., Brattleboro VT. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 33 Marlboro St., Keene, NH 03431.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made payable to Kenneth M. Bergmann, with a reference on the memo line to "Midge's Moonshadow Fund", People's United Bank, P.O. Box 89, Chesterfield, NH 03443, in development of a fund to help local families with expenses when caring for a loved one with Multiple Sclerosis.
