Max Leroy Fox, 84, of Kersey, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013. Max was born on July 18, 1929 in Kersey to Guy W. and Eva Mae (Tippetts) Fox.
Max graduated from Kersey High School in 1947. He went on to work for Union Pacific Railroad for two years and then started as an auto mechanic for Robert's Garage in Evans and Fox Motors in Kersey. He also worked on PnA turkey farms and then a self-employed mechanic until he retired.
He married Lois M. Meeker in 1949. They have four beautiful children: two boys, Roy and Jim and two girls, Wendy and Shelly.
Max enjoyed hunting, trapshooting and making wood carvings. (Totem poles and Animals) He also enjoyed collecting Indian artifacts. In retirement, Max restored old tractors and would build small replica tractors of the large tractor's he restored.
Max was a very well respected auto mechanic and could fix anything. He had a great sense of humor. He was an active community member, a volunteer firefighter and the Town Mayor for four years. He would give a hand to anyone. Max was loved by so many.
Max is survived by his wife, Lois; two daughters, Wendy Miller (Greg) and Shelly Dyche (Sam); one daughter-in-law, Mary Fox; one son, Jim Dale (Pat) Fox; two sisters, Ula Rae Adler and Ola Fae Burg; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Roy Lee Fox, brothers, Joy and Rex Fox, brother-in-law, Ray Adler and son-in-law, John Miller.
A Memorial Open House will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Kersey Community Church Memorial Building, 26221 WCR 53, Kersey, CO.
