Michael A. Massarella, 84, of Strafford, PA, passed away on Wednesday July 30, 2014. Mike was the loving husband of Mary (nee Porreca) Massarella , with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was born August 26, 1929 to the late Mildred (nee D'Ateno) and Antonio Massarella. Mike spent his entire life on the Main Line in the Strafford-Devon area. Upon graduating from Tredyffrin-Easttown HS (now Conestoga HS), he attended Villanova University. He served in the US Army from 1948-1950 and after completing his military service, Mike returned home to grow the family business; Strafford Hardware. Following the 1968 sale of Strafford Hardware, he collaborated with his nephew Frank opening Corporate Realty in 1983. For the next three decades he worked managing the family owned properties. Mike loved an audience and could often be found sharing a good story or a funny joke, entertaining with his animated style. He was never happier than with family and friends, enjoying good food and wine. Mike loved his dogs and many interests including gardening, wine making, cooking, dining out, playing cards and hunting. Mike was especially proud of his Italian heritage in particular Italian food. Mike and Mary belonged to The Caterina de'Medici Gastronomic Society and enjoyed many Italian gourmet dining experiences with this group. Surviving is a sister: Mildred (the late Dr. Frank) Lorine. Also surviving is a niece: Marianne (William) Kinsey and four nephews: Frank, Tony, Christopher (Laurie) and Michael Lorine; as well as great nephews and nieces: Frank Jr. (Fernanda), Michael, Jr., Giovanna, Meghan, Noelle Lorine and Nicole Curione. In addition to his nieces and nephews, Mike is survived by a cousin: George Naujokas and his daughter Courtney Naujokas. Relatives and friends may call on Tues. Aug. 5, 2014 from 10-11AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church: 35 Old Eagle School Rd., Strafford, PA. A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11AM.
