Michael W. Stanton, 27, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Abilene. Funeral services will be at 1:00p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory St. Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 5:00p.m to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
Michael was born in Austin, Texas on November 26, 1985 to Gary and Sally Stanton. He graduated from Cooper High School where he was a member of the football team. Michael was very athletic and loved to play disc golf and softball. He was a big New York Yankees and University of Texas fan as well. He worked as a correctional officer at the French Robertson Unit for seven years and just recently was employed by an oil company in Snyder.
Michael always tried to find the good in people and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Richard and Annette Stanton; and his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Hart.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Sally Stanton of Abilene; his brother, Anthony Jacob Stanton of Abilene; his beloved dog, Cricket; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins in New York, Texas, and Georgia.
