Michael Danh Luong Tran was born in Saigon, Vietnam. His father immigrated to the United States in 1975, and later reunited with his family in 1982 in Odessa, Texas. As the 3rd child of 4 children, he has 2 older brothers and 1 younger sister. Growing up in west Texas, he graduated with honors in the top 10% of his high school class and went on to finish college at the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 with a double major in Mathematics and Music. In the midst of the telecommunications boom of the mid 1990s, he followed his brothers' footsteps and began his career as a semiconductor applications engineer. But always intrigued with scholarly endeavors, he turned to education and began his teaching career in 2003. He was awarded Teach of the Year in 2010.
In 2001, he found love and married, and in 2002 with his wife joyfully welcomed their daughter, Christine Ngoe An.
He leaves behind his maternal grandmother, his mother, 2 brothers, 1 sister and beloved daughter. His father preceded him in death in 2005.
The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated, Monday, September 16th at 7 a.m. at the Our Ladys of Perpetual Help, 2121 W. Appollo, Garland, Texas 75044. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Rowlett.
