Muriel Edward Lape, 68, of Sikeston, died May 20, 2013, at his residence. Born June 15, 1944, in Chaffee, to the late Ode and Christine Scheffer Lape, he had served in the U.S. Air Force and was employed as a postal clerk by the U.S. Postal Service. On June 21, 1995, in Las Vegas, he married Merry Gay Evans, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Brent Edward Lape of Germany; one daughter, Tina Lape Shaw of Sikeston; two stepsons, Evan Carver Hess of Washington, D.C. and Tradd Barton Hess of Cape Girardeau; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Dennis Lape of Littleton, Colo., David and Donna Lape of Chaffee and Michael Lape of St. Louis; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Betty and Sonny Tucker of St. Louis and JoEllen Chapman of Cape Girardeau. Also surviving are three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Maria Thumma of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.
Pallbearers will be Brent Lape, Evan Hess, Dennis Lape, David Lape, Michael Lape and Sonny Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Lee, Austin Shaw and Tradd Hess.
