Mrs. Nancy White Spearman, 77, of Morganton, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Born on April 10, 1935 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Arthur White, Sr. and Elizabeth Bristol White.
Mrs. Spearman worked for Broughton Hospital for over 29 years as a Supervisor / Medical Technician. In 1976, she was named "Med Tech of the Year".
She loved to read, especially the Bible and enjoyed the fellowship with her church members of Slades Chapel AME Zion Church. Mrs. Spearman was a lifetime member of Slades Chapel AME Zion Church having served as Captain of the Luminaries, a member of the Young Adult Choir, a member of the Missionary Society and serving on the Stewardess Number 2. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who loved and cherished her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Elizabeth Thomas. She is survived by her children, Greg A. Spearman and his companion, Kathy Brosky of Morganton, Denise Spearman Edwards and her husband, Sam Edwards of Morganton and Troy Spearman, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia Spearman of Morganton; grandchildren, Torri Spearman, Stanley Spearman, III, Landon Brent Edwards, Tre Anthony Spearman, Jordan Paige Spearman and Kaylee Marie Spearman; brother, Master Sgt. Edward Arthur White, Jr. and his wife, Alyce; and a host of cousins, family members and friends.
A Service to Celebrate Her Life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Slades Chapel AME Zion Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00-2:30 p.m. at the church.
