July 27, 1938 – January 22, 2010
Born in Hyderabad, India, Nick came to the United States at age 20 to attend graduate school at the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana. After graduating with an M.S. in mechanical engineering, Nick lived and worked in a variety of cities across the country. In 1969, while living in San Francisco, he met his wife, Jane. They married in 1972 and eventually settled in Ventura in 1983.
Nick leaves behind Jane, his wife of 38 years; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jean-Francois Barthe, and granddaughter, Paulina, of Redwood City; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Kiyo Inoue, and newborn granddaughter, Mika, of Redondo Beach; mother-in-law, Dorothy Halling, of Ventura; brother- and sister-in-law, Bob and Barbara Fischer, of Idaho; and nephews, Patrick and Andrew Fischer, of Washington state.
Nick loved to travel, cook, play tennis and follow world affairs. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Our family is thankful he is now at peace. Although he left too soon, he went without regrets.
We would like to thank everyone for the kindness and love they have expressed.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
