Neal Barker, 81, Olathe, KS, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012. Visitation will be from 1-2pm, Wednesday, February 1st, at McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2pm with burial in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Olathe Club for the Deaf or Deaf Cultural Center.
Neal was born on December 9, 1930 in Olathe, KS to Leslie and Elsie Faye (Ramsey) Barker. He graduated from Kansas School for the Deaf in 1949. On June 30, 1951, Neal married the love of his life, Evalyn Clingan. He worked for Century Wood Products (30 years) and Quality Wood products (9 years) as a Draftsman. Neal loved fishing, woodworking and thoroughly enjoyed all sports. He was an extremely helpful, kind, gentle man who was well liked and loved by many friends and family.
Mr. Barker was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Lance Barker; son-in-law, Patrick Feikert; brother, Harley Barker; sisters, Elsie Martin, Lola Cancannon, Virginia Harness and Gail Cockrell.
He is survived by his adoring daughter, Sandi Barker of Olathe; brothers Howard Barker of Fremont, CA, Ronald (Beverly) Barker of Paola and Dallas (Margaret) Barker of Flint, MI; grandchildren, Michael LaRue and David (Mandi) LaRue and great grandchildren, Lily, Henry, Wyatt and Owen.
Neal will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him!
