Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 26, 2013.

Nicoletta "Clara" Pollastro Anastas, 84 years young, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Friday at her home surrounded by her loving family. Nicoletta was born in Syracuse in 1928 and was a lifelong resident of the North Side of Syracuse. She was the daughter of Carmine and Maria Carmella Pollastro and was the last of nine siblings, Nicholas, Mary, Michael, Dominick, Mathew, Andrew, Joseph, and Tina. Nicoletta was a homemaker that loved cooking, baking, but most of all, being with family, who she loved very much. She was and always will be our amazing person.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 56 years, Joseph John Anastas, Sr., he adored her immensely; her loving children who will forever love her in their hearts and souls, Sharon Anastas of Baldwinsville, Joseph (Rita) Anastas, Jr. of Liverpool, Susan Marie (Keith) Finger of Liverpool, and Frank (Diana) Anastas of Baldwinsville. She will always be in their loving hearts, her eight grandchildren, Angela, Nicole, Maria Pia, Anthony, Christina, Mark, Loredana, and Joseph, III; three step-grandchildren, Audra, Lindsay, and Cheryl; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 9 a.m. at FARONE & SON FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where a Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home, 1500 Park Street, Syracuse.

Dear Joe and the Anastas family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. Some of my fondest childhood memories were spent at your house. It was full of love and your mom was at the center of it. She always made me feel part of the family with her easy manner and her warm smile. She will never be forgotten.

To the entire Anastas family:
I'm truly sorry for the loss of your wife, mother, grandmother and friend. I know how much she meant to all of you. I have only had the honor of meeting Mrs. Anastas on a handful of occasions but she was truly a wonderful lady. She will always be remembered through your love and faith.

Dear Joe and family - How very sorry we were to hear of the passing of Clara. What a nice lady. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word for everyone. Her husband and family were so important to her and the center of her life. We had many nice chats when she came into the dental office. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.
