Nina Louise Bugna of Calistoga, peacefully passed away on July 10, 2011 in her 99th year. She will be joining her beloved husband of 64 years, Victor Dario Bugna, who predeceased her in 1998.
Nina is survived by her sister Albina Cordano; sister in law May Cuneo; and daughter Carol Albro. As one of eight children, Nina maintained close relationships with her nieces and nephews particularly David Cordano and Patti Pritchard. She also leaves a legacy of strong, loving women through her granddaughter, Kimberly Monson and two beautiful great granddaughters, Elisabeth Monson Viera and Renee Monson Viera.
Nina, more fondly known as Mickey, led a very full and responsible life. She and her husband Victor worked very hard and upon retirement happily moved to their dream home in "Gods Country" as she referred to Calistoga. They spent many of their "Golden Years" traveling the world and enjoying each other while visiting Spain, New Zealand, Italy, Alaska, Portugal, Australia and England.
Nina was a celebrated knitter, winning many first place ribbons at the Town Fair over the years and she volunteered weekly at the St. Helena Hospital gift shop for nearly two decades. After her husband passed, she affectionately took on the pleasures of his prolific garden, it may have been the secret to her long and healthy life.
Nina's life was a gift. She was strong and independent, she enjoyed good health and lived in her own home until very recently. She passed gently, in her sleep, while being wonderfully cared for.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 20th 2011, 10a.m., at St. Helena City Cemetery. Those who wish to make donations out of respect for Nina, are welcome to choose their own charity.
Arrangements under the direction of Morrison Funeral Chapel, St. Helena, CA.
