Norman O. Barthel, 87, of Millstadt, Illinois, born January 4, 1925, in New Athens, Illinois, passed away, July 25, 2012, in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Mr. Barthel was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, in Floraville, Illinois. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1221, Belleville, Illinois, and very active with the Floraville Grange. He enjoyed going to Branson twice a year and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Emma, nee Kempf, Barthel; and a brother, Willard Barthel.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving children, Paul Barthel, of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Mark Barthel, of Belleville, Illinois, and Laura (Tim) Siverly, of Collinsville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Ryan and Mariah Siverly, Chaz, Austin, and Sierra Barthel; two sisters, Helen Phillips, of Belleville, Illinois and Melba Pfannebecker, of Smithton, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 28, 2012, at the funeral home, with Rev. Matt Friz officiating. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
