Norman S. Kendall went home to be with the Lord on November 10, 2012.
Mr. Kendall was born in Jersey City, NJ on August 29, 1939 to Norman A. Kendall and Helen Kendall Zarski, now deceased. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Rebecca of New Bern and his children: Stacy Kendall of New Bern, Meredith Kendall of East Windsor, NJ, Jon Milton and his wife, Diane of Little Elm, TX and M. Nickolas Milton and his wife, Amy of Carrollton, TX; his sister Pamela Smith of Selbyville, DE and three grandchildren: Audrey and Joshua Milton of Carrollton, TX and Brianna Kendall of East Windsor, NJ.
Norman attended schools in Jersey City NJ and graduated from high school in 1957. He was active in Boy Scouts and Explorers. He went on to attend Newark College of Engineering and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree. He received an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Rutgers University in 1973. Norman was a member of the US Army Reserve from 1962 until 1968. He continued his career in Engineering and Engineering Management, retiring in 1999 from JC Penney, Plano, TX. Upon retiring, Norman and Rebecca relocated to New Bern where Norm enjoyed sailing and golfing. He was a member of Blackbeard Sail Club.
Norman was an active member in each Lutheran Church of which he was a member. He was a Charter Member of Reformation Lutheran Church, NALC, in New Bern, where he served as the Vice President of the congregation.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Chris Taylor and the staff at New Bern Cancer Care for the excellent care Mr. Kendall received and to the staff of Craven County Home Care and Hospice for the loving attention paid him during his short illness.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reformation Lutheran Church Building Fund.
