Mr. Norman Leon Snyder of Forest Park, GA passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013 at Westbury Medical Care Home in Jackson.
Mr. Snyder was born June 1, 1927 in New Ringgold, PA. He was the son of a farmer and helped tend to the family farm. Then at age 17, he enlisted into the military and was shipped out for duty. Many years later, he was assigned duties in Georgia where he met his life love, Muriel C. Bowdoin. After only three dates, he asked for her hand in marriage and they lived and loved each other and many more for 47 years while they resided in Forest Park. Many years after the passing of his wife and his newest battle with Parkinson's Disease, Norman resided in Griffin for the last four years of his life. Norman was a Freedom Fighter and Family Man. He served our Country well battling through WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War, and retired after 23 years in the Army. He also retired after an additional 20 years from Georgia State University as the Fleet Maintenance Lead Mechanic. Norman was a man of pride, honor and valor and yet the most humble of men. After dedicating his life to his country while in the military, he then channeled that same dedication and devotion to his family, especially indulging his grandchildren. He was a wonderful teacher of life and love and had many stories to share.
