Dr. Orlando Apiado

May 15, 1939 - March 4, 2013
Affectionately known as "Orly" or "Doc". Son of Romualda. Loving husband of Pilar. Beloved father of Eric (MayJen), Michelle and Orland.Dear brother of Thelma, Rebecca, Aurelia, Escolastico jr., Amelia, Antonio, Danilo and Yolanda. He was a loving mentor and counselor to family and friends.

Graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine, class 0f 1962, where he was a member of the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was a dedicated cardiologist who initially opened a private practice in Forest Hills NY. He was instrumental in launching the Cardiac Critical Care Unit at LaGuardia Hospital. He opened a second office in Chinatown, NY eventually relocating his entire practice there, where he remained until he retired in 2003. A longtime member of the Executive Committee of Movement for a free Philippines (MFP). He was a passionate advocate for the Filipino people, defending their social and political rights and promoting economic development. He was a true modern renaissance man enjoying cooking, fishing, reading, writing and stimulating conversation with family and friends.
