We are all very sorry to hear about Uncle Park. We (Dick, Doris, Richie, Phillip, Carter and William) all rmember our trip down there to see you back in 77? Had a lot of fun and I (Carter) even got to run with Uncle park for a lap. Thankfully he ran slow and just waved as he kept going for more:)
Wishing you all the best!

Poppy (Park King) was a great man and loving grandfather. From bicycle rides and howling at the moon when I was younger to later dancing at my wedding and seeing my masters graduation, I was blessed to have him as an active presence in my life. Also, aspects of my character from being an avid hockey fan to my passion for education and teaching have demonstrated he may have had a stronger influence than I realized and I am proud to be like him. He additionally welcomed Greg as a grandson from the moment we got married by handing him a comic strip, thus initiating Greg into the news clip-receiving inner circle and continuing to connect with him through card games, holidays, and birthdays. We love you Poppy and we always will!
~Jessi and Greg
P.S.: A note to Poppy: I know this may seem weird, but you always requested me to recite this for you and you were convinced one day I would forget it, so one last time:
“The other day I saw a bear. I saw a bear a way out there. He said to me 'why don't you run; I see you ain't got no gun.' And so I ran away from there, but right behind me was that bear. In front of me was a tree – a great big tree o' glory be. The lowest branch was 10 ft. up. I'd have to jump and trust my luck. So I jumped into the air, but I missed that branch on the way up there. But don't you fret and don't you frown because I caught that branch on the way back down. This is the end, there ain't no more, unless I see that bear once more.”

With fond memories from Union Park Junior High School in 1973-1974, when he helped me transition from a military career to teaching in the public schools - a role model indeed. The impact he made in education continues. The world will miss him.
