Paul André Archambault
November 2, 1958 – May 24, 2011
Paul had many passions in his life. For all who knew him, it was clear that he loved music, the outdoors and nature. The passion started early in life, when he was introduced to music and played saxophone in high school. He went on to learn to play guitar and his love of music is evident to all as he collected music over the years and attended live concerts and tribute bands with many of you, his friends here today.
Paul was a great collector: he had great joy learning about Native Canadian art and artisans over the past decades. He loved to work with his hands and learned all the skills early in life to make beautiful items of leather and macramé. Indeed, he was still working on leather projects until recently.
Of Course, a big part of Paul's universe involved his love of Volvo's and motorcycles. He traveled across Canada many times by car or bike. On some of those memorable trips accompanied by his beloved dogs. Paul had no children but it's safe to say Ringo, Amos and Sweet Pea were his family.
He was a wonderful uncle to Scott, James and Sean. Always interested in their activities: loved to talk cars, music and art with them. He kept tabs on his nephews through phone calls and emails.
Paul was an outdoorsman and loved camping and canoing, particularly in this part of the country but loved Lac St-Joseph and the St-Gabriel de Brandon areas too.
Paul was very creative and always came up with original ideas to spend the summer at Wreck Beach and I hear he could mix a mean Pina Colada! He produced original T-shirt designs and sold not only his famous cocktails but t-shirts as well and had no problem flinging a frisbee or two. He was a kind and generous soul who always made the time for family and friends. He loved fine food, good wine and had La joie de vivre.
In January of 2010, he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma. Paul showed courage and strength of character facing difficult challenges along the way. He used to say: if you don't use it, you loose it. He was a tough bugger. He also said: this is not what I wanted, but I guess God had other plans for me. Paul passed away May 24th, 2011 at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital. We take this opportunity to thank each of you for all of the support and care you gave him over the past 16 months.
Paul is survived by his loving family; Dominique Lemire (common-law spouse); father Jacques Louise); mother Shirley (Tony); sisters Sandra (Ron) and Nancy (Russ); 3 nephews Scott, Sean, James (Sarah); and other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 2310 Clearbrook Rd, Abbotsford, BC on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
