Paul Richard Bowen, 84, a resident of Staunton, formerly of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at King's Daughters' Nursing Home.
He was born in Rockingham County on September 29, 1928 and was the son of the late Richard and Mabel Craig Bowen.
Paul graduated from Mt. Sidney High School and was self-employed in the construction business, until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Moose, VFW and American Legion. During the Korean conflict he served in the US Army.
His wife, Louise Sites Long Bowen, preceded him in death on March 14, 2012.
He is survived by his children, Vickie Clausen, Karan Davis, and Jerry Bowen all of Verona, Richard Bowen of Bridgewater; two step-children, Sheree Long of Staunton, and Donald Long of North Carolina; a brother, Fred Bowen; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg.
A funeral service will be held 1:30 pm, Wednesday, January 23, at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Staunton, with Pastor John Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Linville Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion.
