Paul Edward Massingill was born February 21, 1928, in Hamilton County to the late George Roy and Angeline "Susie" (Bass) Massingill. He was the seventh of eleven children.
Paul was a graduate of Jonesboro High School.
Paul married the love of his life, Margaret Ann Massingill on January 10, 1948. They shared 66 very wonderful & memorable years together. Four amazing & unique children were born to this union, Billy Wayne, Johnny, Pam, and Kenny.
He enlisted in the USAF, serving in Okinawa, and receiving an honorable discharge as a WWII veteran in 1949. He retired after 20 years with the Texas Department of Health and continued to stay active in farming and ranching for years. He loved nothing better than sitting in his John Deere tractor, driving one of his grain trucks or his sitting high in his combine. He served as trustee on the Jonesboro School Board and Jonesboro Volunteer Fire Department. He also served as President of the Evergreen Cemetery Association for many years. He was a member of the Rock House Masonic Lodge and a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church until the time of his death. He was an avid reader of good ole westerns and he never turned down a good domino game. He found great pleasure in hunting & fishing and spending time with his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren. He loved to travel with family while he was still able. He never met a stranger and made everyone who walked through his door feel right at home. He cherished life & lived it to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and one precious grandson, John Paul Massingill.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, four children: Billy Wayne Massingill and wife Mary of Clifton, Johnny Edward Massingill and wife Pat of Jonesboro, Pamela Ann Massingill Thomas of Eastland and Kenneth Charles Massingill of Gatesville; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
