Pedro Fernandes, a longtime Yonkers resident, died on Saturday December 29, 2012 at St. John's Riverside Hospital. He was 89 years old. He was born on April 27, 1923 to Manuel and Maria Do Bom Sucesso Fernandes in Portugal. Mr. Fernandes was an assembler at General Motors Corp. in Tarrytown for many years prior to his retirement. He was predeceased by his first wife, Maria (Luz) Fernandes. He is survived by his 2nd wife, Elida (Vegas) Fernandes and his two sons, Peter Fernandes and his wife, Conceicao and Tony Fernandes and his wife, Isabel. He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Heart Church on Monday December 31st at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
