Percy W Barefoot

September 17, 1922 - May 27, 2011
The memorial service of Percy W. Barefoot, Sr., 88, of Swansea, will be held 4 o'clock, Sunday, June 5, 2011, at West Side Baptist Church, 2100 Platt Springs Rd, with The Rev. Clinton Lawyer officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be held 10 o'clock, Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mr. Barefoot died Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Born in Lexington County, SC on September 17, 1922, he was a son of the late Clifton George and Edna Pylant Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot was a US Navy veteran of World War II, a 1st Degree Mason, and a former member of the Broad River Masonic Lodge #377.

Survivors include his children, Percy W. Barefoot, Jr. of Swansea, Richard "Dick" Barefoot and Sandra Kay Barefoot both of West Columbia; seven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Charles "Rat" and Clayton "Skip Barefoot, both of West Columbia; and a sister, Hazel Pechon of West Columbia. In addition to his parents, Percy was preceded in death by his wife, Vennie Lee Friendly Barefoot; his daughter, Geraldine Janet Barefoot, and brothers, Thomas and Carnell "Buck" Barefoot.
