Phillip Charles Noto, 86, passed away February 24, 2013. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents Luigi and Pauline Noto; his siblings Paul Noto, Sam Noto, Joe Noto, Josephine Noto, Rose Noto and nephew Nicky Noto. Phillip is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Sue Anthony Noto; children, Phyllis Noto Ost (Joe), Natalea Noto Schmittou (Tom), Charles Noto and David Noto (Jennifer). Grandchildren Trey Bengtson, Phillip Vlahos (Lauren), Jacy Dobson (Tyler), Stephen Vlahos (Meredith), Megan Phillips, Micah Phillips and Michael Noto; and great grandchild Rory Noto Parks.
Phillip was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. He was a founding member of The Roma Country Club, an avid golfer and a 40+ year member of Hoover County Club. After serving his country in the Army, he played professional baseball and became a trusted scout and mentor for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds. After a long and successful career in the steel industry, Phillip retired at the age of 80.
Phillip was truly the patriarch of his family and had a great sense of humor and genuine smile. He was known as “Uncle Phil” to many and a father to all his nieces and nephews. He was kind, generous and a blessing to all that had the opportunity to know him.
Arrangements are as follows at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church: Tuesday Feb 26th, praying of the rosary at 5:30 PM followed by visitation from 6-8 PM. Wednesday Feb 27th, visitation at 10 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 11 AM under the direction of Pastor Rev. Thomas M. Kelly, F.T.C.L..
