Adrian, Richard Francis, age 92, lost his battle with Alzheimer's disease on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Blue Hills Alzheimer's Care Center in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
He was born in Auburn, Massachusetts on April 27, 1919 – the youngest of four sons born to Olga May Adrian (Hultgren) and Aloysius Patrick Adrian. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Air Corps during World War II from 1941-1945, achieving the rank of Air Cadet & Corporal in the army. After receiving an honorable discharge, "Dick", as he was known to many of his relatives and friends, received a Master of Arts in Education from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and married Elizabeth May Adrian (Feindel) on September 11, 1948. At the conclusion of a long career working at the Pentagon, the U.S. Department of the Navy and Marlborough City Hall in Massachusetts, he retired in 1978 and moved with his wife to St. Petersburg, Florida. He most enjoyed oil painting, travel and spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by his wife Elizabeth, age 92, his son James Richard Adrian, a daughter Julie Ann Ross (Adrian), and her husband Steven J. Ross, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside service at the Veteran's National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne, MA., on April 10th, 2012 at 1:15 PM.
