DENISON – Rachel Anderson, 95, of Denison passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church, 800 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX 75020 on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. with Steve Chambers officiating and assisted by her nephew Robert Belew of Quincy, Ill. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, 5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman., TX 75090.
Rachel was born August 26, 1916 in Howe, Texas to Robert and Frona Hollingsworth. She married LeRoy Anderson, Jr. on August 30, 1942. She was a school teacher in Denison for 40 years and taught at Central Ward Elementary School and Denison High School. She was a caring and giving person and active in many professional and educational organizations. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Denison.
She is survived by her son Bob Anderson of Houston, Texas, daughter-in-law Young Anderson of Houston, Texas; sister Roberta Anderson of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Cindy Anderson of Paso Robles, California, Tammy Anderson of Alaska, Kimberly Anderson and Michael Anderson of Houston, Texas and 3 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husband LeRoy Anderson, Jr. in 1975; parents; two brothers, Leroy Hollingsworth in 1977, Dwight Hollingsworth n 1947and sister Reba Belew in 2007.
