Rachel "Virginia" Askew age 79 of Jackson, TN passed away March 31, 2010. A Funeral Service will be held 11 am Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Bemis First Baptist Church with Brother Mark McSwain and Brother John Norvell officiating. Burial will follow at Lester Chapel Cemetery.
Virginia was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Bemis, where she served as a Prayer Warrior, VBS Director, WMU Director, Sunday School Teacher, Discipleship Training Teacher, and Youth Volunteer. She also was a Explores Bible Study Leader and Girl Scout Leader.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Otis King and Lennie Carnell King and one brother, Buddy King.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Askew; sons, Richard " Buddy " Askew ( Tracey ), Robert Askew; daughters, Elizabeth ' Libby " Barton ( Joe ), Barbara " Babs" Baker ( Charley ); grandchildren, Lennie Cox ( Steven ), Jennie Barton of Humboldt, TN, Justin and Patrick Wright; great-grandchildren, Brendan and Caitlin Cox; sisters, Barbara Rittenberry ( Bill ) of Wentzville, MO and other family members, Jackie Warren and Virgie Tillman.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 2, 2010 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons and 1 hour prior to the service at the Church.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bemis Building Fund.
