Crowley -- Rachel E. McGough went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, after losing a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff of the Community Hospice House in Burleson.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Texas and either the Humane Society of North Texas or the SPCA.
Rachel was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Denison to the late George Wesley Johnson and Mattie Agnes Johnson. She married Thomas "Mac" McGough Sept. 29, 1942, and began her life as a homemaker and nurse. Rachel worked in area hospitals and nursing homes providing the same level of care she received in her last days on earth.
She was a member of South Burleson Baptist Church and a friend to many at the Crowley Senior Citizen Center where she loved to fellowship and play bingo.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Thomas "Mac" McGough, in October 1988.
Survivors: Rachel is survived by her daughters, Peggy McMichael and husband, Garry, and Sheila Murphy; grandsons, Darrin McMichael and wife, Jennifer, and daughters, Daphne and Natalie, and Brett Murphy.
