Ralph G. "Putt" Alting, 81, widower of Gloria (Brobst) Alting of Barto, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 in Bechtelsville.
Born on July 13, 1930 in Reading he was the son of the late William Wakefield Alting and Mary Keely.
Putt was a US Army Veteran. He was a sprayer and bender for Superior Metal in Stowe for 40 years. He was a member of the Liberty Fire Company, New Berlinville, Keystone Fire Company, and the Gabelsville Athletic Association. He was a life member of the Friendship Hook & Ladder Fire Company and the Gilbertsville Fire Company. Putt enjoyed shooting pool and auto races.
He is survived by a daughter, Cindy wife of Walt Geist of Bechtelsville; a son, Tom, husband of LuAnn (Feather) Alting of Bechtelsville; two grandchildren; a half-sister, Elsie Jameson of Drexel Hill; two half-brothers, Albert Lockwood of Exeter Township and Arthur Lockwood of Kutztown and a companion Lottie Buckwalter of Barto. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith Sitlinger; two brothers, John and Walter Alting and a half-sister, Laura Moyer.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Linwood W. Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 111 North Reading Avenue, Boyertown. The Reverend Nelson J. Shenk, pastor of Boyertown Mennonite church will officiate.
A viewing will be Wednesday, September 21, 2011 between 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories.
