Ralph Armistead

January 6, 1914 - March 10, 2011
Ralph Armistead, 97, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in his residence.
The Armistead Family was one of the original pioneers of Moss Bluff. Mr. Armistead was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. He was instrumental in helping to build the original, as well as the second, Baptist Church in Moss Bluff, and built numerous homes in the Moss Bluff area.
He is survived by his son, Dean Armistead and wife, Peggy of Magnolia, TX; daughter, Donna Peet of Moss Bluff, LA; brothers, Gordon Armistead , Cecil Armistead and a sister, Laura Goss all of Moss Bluff; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edythe Wood Armistead; parents Albert and Martha Armistead; brothers, Albert Armistead, Billie Armistead, Ora Armistead; sisters, Lucille Williams and Agnes Whiddon. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Armistead's caretaker, Lois Emory, and her family for the care and compassion given.
Funeral Service for Mr. Armistead will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. Rev. Vernon Chevallier will officiate. Burial will be in Old Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Saturday and will re-open on Sunday at 10 a.m. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
