Ralph Edwin Kruis was born on May 17, 1944 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was the oldest of three children. When Ralph was 11 his family moved to California. He was the second graduating class of Mayfair High School. Ralph was drafted into the service in 1968 and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After two years he returned home and started working for Beverly Bowl in Montebello, California, where he worked for 40 years. In 1970 he met his future wife, LaVonne, on a blind date. They were married on August 7, 1971 and settled in Lakewood. They had four children, Kyle, Tobin, Colette, and Brigette.
Ralph enjoyed classic cars and working on his 1957 Ford Fairlane 500. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening. He also loved working on his crossword puzzles. When he retired, he became quite the cook by learning to make homemade soups. He loved trains, whether watching them when he was a child or as setting up his Lionel train for Christmas for his children and grandchildren. He really enjoyed his grandchildren, whether going to see their ballgames, school activities, or just spending time with them.
Ralph spent his last days doing what he loved the most, FISHING!
